Aquaventure Waterpark at Atlantis The Palm is the largest waterpark in the world – 17 hectares at the tip of the Palm Jumeirah with more than 105 slides, rides and attractions, a 2.3-kilometre river with rapids, a one-kilometre private beach and a slide that ends in a tunnel through a lagoon of sharks and rays. It is open every day of the year, and winter is when it is at its best: the water is heated, the queues are half what they are in July, and the beach in front of the hotel is perfect at 25°C. The three towers: Neptune, Poseidon and Trident
Tower of Neptune is the original and the one everyone photographs: the Leap of Faith, a nine-storey near-vertical drop that fires you through a clear tunnel in the Shark Lagoon, and Shark Attack, a gentler tube through the same lagoon. Tower of Poseidon is the thrill tower: Poseidon’s Revenge starts with a trapdoor and 60 km/h, the Aquaconda is the largest waterslide in the world – a raft ride through a tube big enough to hold a bus – and Zoomerango and Slitherine are the raft and dual-tube rides.
Trident Tower, opened in 2021, added twelve rides and the world records: Odyssey of Terror, the tallest waterslide tower ride on earth, with a trapdoor into a 43-metre drop; Blackout, a raft ride in the dark; the Shockwave family raft on a wave wall; and the Vortex and Poseidon’s Rapids. Between the towers runs the Torrent, a river with rapids and tidal waves that carries you from tower to tower without walking, and the lazy-river alternative for a rest.
For families there are Splashers Cove and Splashers Island, two large play structures with small slides and tipping buckets for children under 1.2 metres, a Kids’ Beach with shallow water, and the Trident Kids area at the new tower. Most big slides require 1.2 metres; the family rafts take children from 1.07 metres with an adult. The private beach, with loungers and the Atlantis skyline behind you, is included and is where the day ends.

Book online: Atlantis charges more at the gate, and the Tiqets ticket below is a “Trident” direct-to-gate pass with free cancellation until 24 hours before and the option to reschedule – useful in the one week a winter when rain is forecast. Towels, lockers and cabanas are extra (cabanas from about AED 1,000 for the day, worth it for a family of four). Check the calendar for the current price in your currency.
Why winter is the time
Aquaventure in July is a survival exercise; in December it is a beach holiday with slides. The water is heated to about 28°C, the air is 24–26°C, and weekday queues for the Leap of Faith drop from 45 minutes to ten. Go on a weekday, arrive at opening and do the three towers before noon, then the river and the beach. From late December to mid-January – school holidays across Europe and the Gulf – it is busy again; book a cabana or come early. Opening hours and how to get there
Open daily from 10:00 to sunset – about 17:30 in winter (Tiqets lists 9:00–17:30; the exact closing time follows the sun). Aquaventure is at Atlantis The Palm, at the top of the Palm Jumeirah. Take the red metro line to Dubai Internet City or DAMAC Properties, then the Palm Monorail from Gateway station to Atlantis Aquaventure station (about 15 minutes, AED 25 return) – the ride along the trunk of the Palm is a sight in itself. A taxi from Downtown takes 30 minutes; parking at Atlantis is free for waterpark guests. Swimwear rules are strict: no cotton clothing, sarees or abayas in the water; burkinis are fine.
